This is simply one of the greatest creations, repurposed or not, that I have ever seen. I can not fathom how long this would take. Bravo.

There will always be 18-20 year olds for fluffy press stories looking to pretend that everyone is creating the next big thing. These stories are sensational, at best, and almost always horse shit. However, there will also always be far more people to make smile and delight with one’s work, and that’s what Ben does. And what I will keep attempting to do. An industry with no upper limit on value, joy, or good will.

The media loves a story about young people finding instant wealth on the internet, and while that does actually happen, it happens a lot less than most people think. For every 22-year old millionaire, there are hundreds of thousands of 22 year old coders working tirelessly on really great ideas that will never launch, and that everyone involved will lose money on.

I would posit that it is actually far less likely for a young person to find success on the internet if they set out to become wealthy than it is for people who decide to pursue their creativity and passion, and to create things that they want or need rather than trying to GET HUGE and PLAY WITH THE BIG BOYS.

The biggest success story from my career started with Adam and I making a dorky joke to amuse ourselves. We never, not once, thought that it would make us money, let alone be acquired by a big company and go on to be heralded as one of the foundational companies of “web 2.0.”

When we were acquired, we weren’t even a company! There was no legal entity at all - just me, Adam, and a handshake. But boy, what a handshake!
